Swim 1.5km

Finish !

Bike Finish !!

Goal!

Wahoo Element Rival

Total 1:51:12 ( 1st🏆)

First of all, I would like to thank the event officials and the people of Shichigahama Town for hosting the race at Corona Disaster.
This was my first time competing in a short distance triathlon race since the 2018 Fukui National Athletic Meet.
Although I competed in Ironman New Zealand in March 2020, my training and race pace were different for shorter distance races, so I prepared carefully with the feeling that this was my first race in 4 years.
First of all, we won! I was able to win the race. Thank you to all of you who cheered me on locally, watched the live streaming, and trained with me every day!

I would like to look back one by one.
Swim 1.5km
From the times of the athletes in the elite division, and from the Element Rival I have on hand, the swim course was a bit long this time around. However, the ocean swell was almost nonexistent and the conditions were very swimmable.
It had been a while since I raced in Open Water, but I started calmly and kept my own pace to enjoy the feeling of racing and finish the race!
I finished 4th in the wave below 39th, and 8th overall in the Swim Finish.

Bike 40km (13.3km*3Laps)
Swim→Bike transition, he was 2:30 behind the leader. Not knowing how much strength was in front of me, I started to set my own pace. One person passed me in transition, so there were four riders in front of me. One of them was Komuro from Akita, who has been racing with me for more than 10 years now. Needless to say, I was more fired up when I saw his name on the start list ^^.
The bike course in Shichigahama has ups and downs and is generally considered a "tough course. I love this course👍.
I caught the 3 guys in front of me about 4km after the start, and then checked the gap with the leader at the turnaround. About 1:45 difference. That's a lot closer!
At the end of the first lap, the gap to the leader was about 1:00^^.
I was convinced that I could do it.
After 20 km, I caught the leader and took the lead.
After that, I continued to set my own pace and finished the bike with a gap of more than 2 minutes over the following pack.
Bike lap was 1st place 🏅, just as I had hoped.

Run 5km (2.5km*2Laps)
By the end of the bike, the temperature had risen considerably, and it was really dangerously hot. The course layout for the run was similar to that of the bike, with many ups and downs. I am not a fast runner, so my challenge was how to keep my advantage on the bike and finish the race. I tried to perform to the best of my ability while checking the gap between me and the next runner as we passed each other. The showers and aids along the way really helped.

Goal!
And the goal!
The top finish in my hometown, Shichigahama, after a long absence! It was a very happy and joyful race ^^.

About Wahoo Element Rival!
This was the first time I used Element Rival in a race. Thank you #Wahoofitness.
This sports watch is a great watch, when you select the triathlon mode for your race, it will auto, without you having to operate it yourself.
Swim -> Transition 1 -> Bike -> Transition 2 -> Run
and then the watch will automatically measure the time! Thanks to this feature, I was able to run the race smoothly without the hassle of hand controls.

The World's Best Cheering Squad
My daughter, who is in second grade, cheered me on along the way for the entire race. I won't tell my wife that she was the best, lest she get mad at me, but she really helped me out. The last time I took my daughter to a race before Corona was in 2018, and she seemed to remember very little about it, so it was very fresh in her mind.
And she is competing in Sado, and the kids/junior triathlon race seemed to be a great inspiration for her.
Thank you, @Gouda-san, for watching my daughter!

Finally, again, thank you for your support ^^!!!
